People are throwing around "Unix" and "Windows" like they used to throw around "RISC" and "CISC". There is no reason of which I am aware why a future version of Windows cannot scale to as many processors as any version of Unix, just like the nasty ol x86 ISA has yielded top-notch processors like the P4 and Athlon.
I think that everyone here who argues otherwise is engaged in a desperate attempt to justify their worldview that equates Apple with perfection and wisdom, or perhaps equates Microsoft with evil and boundless stupidity.

Does push-mail actually work this time? In SLS it is supported, but not with an iPhone. iPhone push thus far only works with Exchange, Google or MobileMe.

Push works AWESOME on Kerio Connect 7 to the iPhone, 6 worked great also. It uses an outlook connector for it's black magic. Email are generally pushed to and appear on my iPhone within a second of hitting the server.

Well, *I* never really respected the Consumerist, because it has a history of blindly following sensationalist leads and has a marked anti-corporate leaning. Especially when such a tactic would have no effect on the problem this alleged conspiracy would supposedly solve. And the fact that you need to sell it so hard that it "pisses [you] off" that someone would challenge your thin and faulty argument kinda confirms you don't really have a leg to stand on.

I like this announcement; it's not a direct vocal challenge to the Zune on launch day, but it does remind the wider world of what the standard is for mp3/portable video players, with a nice new feature to boot. Fanboys of MS can rip on the iPod for lacking things like wireless, but the seamless integration from home to car to flight is worth more to most consumers than a stupid sharing option. I mean really, if you want to advertise what you're listening to others, get a boombox to carry around on your shoulder (what happened to the 80s? ;) ).

I had a go on Pilotwings earlier in the week at my local GAME. I have to say that the 3D effect is a quite strange. Once you're holding it in the perfect position with the depth slider set just below full, the 3D effect is quite impressive; it really did look like the plane was in front of the screen flying into it.
I started off with the slider set to zero and increased the depth slowly. It felt really odd to begin with and looked blurry, but once you're concentrating on it then the 3D effect is quite apparent. However, I found that if I looked away for a second my eyes had to refocus which felt quite strange. This is going to be a problem with games where you're constantly having to change your focus between the two screens.
Overall, my eyes felt strained after only 5 - 10 minutes of playing. I'd like to have a longer go to see if you get used to it, but at the moment I'm not impressed. If your eyes can cope with it, then the 3D effect is quite impressive and I'm sure you'll have loads of fun with it. I certainly wouldn't be letting kids under 10 near it even though Nintendo say 7+.

Does anyone know if Target is price matching or is expected to be following suit with their own reduced prices? I have a hefty credit with Target that I would very much enjoy using on purchasing the original ipad at the new verizon price.
I dont think so. Working at Target the policy is that it has to be a print ad, and not a copy of an internet sale. Below is the policy from the website.
"If you find an item in a competitor's printed ad that is priced lower than it is at your Target store, we will match the price. The competitor's ad must be local and current, and the product must be the identical item, brand name, quantity and model number. Target.com is excluded from our price matching policy. Competitor catalogs can also be ad matched as long as the catalog displays a valid date and meets all other qualifications."
"Please show us the entire printed advertisement. Photos, photocopies, or mobile phone versions of the ad cannot be accepted as verification of competitive pricing."

the Consumerist was recently bought by Consumer's Union. The "non profit" organization that sells the magazine Consumer's Reports. the same rag that has different testing standards for different products to push the snobby/elite/more expensive ones.

...the only reason why I didn't like the campaign at first was because I thought it was dull and everyone would pass it by as if it were just another commercial. But according to this article, it sounds like it has generated some definite interest...which, imo, is a good thing.

That said, I may pick up a current gen MBA based simply on the fact that it's a known entity with a generally positive and proven reputation. The hypothetical Sandy Bridge MBA could end up being a great product too, but then again it could be a flawed wreck. Only time will tell.
This is what I just did, was waiting to decide whether to give my wife my MBA Ultimate and get a new Sandy Bridge version when its released or just go ahead and buy her another Ultimate. I opted to get her the Ultimate, The way this thing performs it could last me 2-3 years easy, unless some crazy CPU/MEM intensive programs get released that I feel I really need to have...Everything opens in one bounce and handles Parallels with Win 7, Photoshop, Xcode, etc...without a hitch...Only thing I would want is Thunderbolt, provided there was a drive released to take advantage of the technology...

Why cant people just (I know this sounds crazy) listen to CR when they make factually based reviews (i.e., iPhone 4 antenna design CAN lead to dropped calls). I hate this blind bias some folks have on here.

This is a democracy and in a democracy there are winners and losers. If you cannot respect the will of the people then I suggest that you find some communist/fascist paradise where you can be free of democracy.Whoa there, you sound like you're in favour of a conservative majority so why come out with guns blazing? This isn't an American political thread you know. :) Oh and BTW while our first-past-the-post system is probably best for local representation, saying it's the will of the people (http://www.ballot-access.org/2011/05/03/canadas-first-past-the-post-system-gave-conservative-party-54-of-seats-even-though-party-won-less-than-40-of-popular-vote/) is not quite the same.
We have and will continue to have universal healthcare. We have and will continue to have a pension system and hopefully the conservatives can patch it up so that it will there for me when I retire as a supplement/backup for my RRSPs. The opposition parties would have either bankrupted the pension system or raised taxes on everyone which would have caused another recession. I truly hope that the conservatives will strengthen both our health care and pension systems the baby boomers are going to add significant costs to both and there's nothing any party can do about that. However I heard 'stay the course' from the political messaging from the conservatives and nothing about health care or pensions.
The conservatives are "real" fiscal conservatives unlike the republicans and social moderates. Understand this, social moderate mean that they are out to serve the needs of all Canadians and not just special interests. If there are problems with our system then the solution needs to be to fix it for everyone as that is the only fair thing to do. If you pay into the system then you should be able to access that system. I hope you are right, but tax cuts to big oil and billion dollar summits don't sound to fiscally conservative do they?

I installed lion on my imac and selected the server tools during installation, for some reason the server tools where not installed. So I did a fresh install and the same happened, anyone got an idea how this could be? How can I get the server tools to work?
