Um, no it doesn't Fuji S1, S2, S3 RAW Files are not supported. This camera is used by more wedding photographers than any other.
indeed. and if medium format cameras with digital backs aren't considered 'pro' cameras (worth more than more peoples cars just for the camera and digi back) then i don't know what is

Not really sure of the point of push as emails come through about facebook activity anyway.....
Contacts sync is an awesome idea though! Just did it and it downloads the photos and puts a link to the facebook page in each contact....
It doesn't mess up your contacts at all!

Eventually the MR Guide will hopefully absorb all the info from the various reliable sources, making it pretty comprehensive.

Really nice for the schools.
Really irrelevant for the schools. I can't say this will change our purchasing strategy in this area either way, the discount is too small to matter really.
It's up to innovative schools to decide whether, and how, iPads have a role in schools. They might have good uses in classrooms, libraries, labs, reading clubs, alongside computers, instead of computers, or who knows.
Except they don't support things like Jmol. They're too big to go into a pocket, they can't be shared around like books, they'll need recharging if they're used heavily. The ipad is a lot of things, sure, but there's lots of things it isn't, too.
Who cares??? its a $500 device that can replace all computer needs of any student. Period.
I bet my students can't wait to run products like AutoCad, Final Cut Pro, Logic, Sonar and Visual Studio, on the ipad. They'll be so excited I'm sure.
It's just a glorified web slate and note taker. By no means bad but I don't see any students where I work, or staff for that matter, rushing to get one. We may buy one or two for R&D.

You have to have a standard frame of reference which is a 35mm sensor size.
That's correct, but you're not using this standard of reference properly: no manufacturer uses effective focal lengths to refer to lenses for dslrs (e. g. it's a 17-55 mm f/2.8 lens and not a 27-88 mm f/2.8 (equiv.) lens), be it a lens tailored for crop lenses or otherwise, but always the physical focal length. I think this is where your misunderstanding lies. This means a full frame lens and a crop lens with the same focal length with produce the same field of view on the same body. A 17-55 mm lens set to 50 mm will produce the same field of view than a nifty fifty on a crop camera (say, a 7D or a 40D).
Note that very often, this is handled differently on compact cameras where you will often find effective focal lengths rather than actual focal lengths, the reason being that sensor sizes can vary quite widely between models.

Nintendo was smart to put in the option to adjust and turn off the 3D.
Faceraiders is fun and I thought I'd hate it.
I played Zelda: Spirit Tracks up to the first Forest Temple last night. I knew buying this thing would get me back into this game, I had put down so long ago. :)

You get a nice, out of the box experiance with OS X.2, but is it worth it for the higher price and slower performance. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
Again, you are living in the past. Macs are now fast and a very good deal. Premiere is not a pro video app and is not optimized for the Mac, Imovie(a free app) and Final cut render much faster. I still have premiere but is very slow on the Mac and I won't upgrade. You can do audio and video on any computer but when you do it to make your living you have to look at the whole picture and that means looking at everything pcs included, and right now the Mac is a better deal overall.

If the US Government shuts down, it'll be the last time I ever vote for a Republican Congressional candidate. I've only ever voted for one, current Senator Richard Burr, but I won't do it again.
This mess is absolutely pathetic. IMO, the Republicans will shoot themselves in the foot if the government shuts down. They can kiss the White House in 2012 and 2016 good bye.

This gave me the idea of a combined AppleCare plan. Since Apple is pitching their mobile computing products in three major categories: iPhone, iPad, and MacBook - it would be really cool to offer a combined AC plan for two or all three categories.
Like I have a iPhone and a MacBook - wouldn't it be neat to be able to buy a hybrid plan that would be about $20 to $30 cheaper than buying them individually?

You forgot one thing. I added it for you. You're welcome.
I love how so many here talk about needed cuts, but never talk about needing to raise taxes.
Agreed. I also find it absurd that people think we can solve this now as opposed to over time. It took at least 8 years to get where we are, we can't fix it on one.

This was one of the most handy little apps that I lost when OS X hit the scene. Super intuitive, super effective.
I have Peak and Pro Tools and neither handle those simple, everyday audio needs like a SoundEdit 16 could.
I very much think there is an audience for Soundbooth and that it will be well received. Based on my experienced with SoundEdit 16, if Soundbooth were Universal, I'd more than likely purchase... immediately.

thx mate. Positive words are always nice to hear/read!
Also, have you thought of making a modified version which can join any team, and then submit it to Dashboard Widgets.com (http://www.dashboardwidgets.com/) , you could win a Mac mini! :D (by the way I am in no way associated with these guys)
Actually you can already. I just put some 'MacRumors' text on the back to maybe steal some folders from other teams when i release the beta to the whole wide world ;).

Well, the only airline I remember which had seat-back displays for all passengers was WestJet. I just flew United and the smaller planes didn't even have an in-house audio system, let alone video.
But this is a great idea.
...
Most airlines that fly trans-atlantic and pacific have individual displays for everybody. In coach, most of them play the same movies and series over and over, but in business/first, most of the time you can choose what to watch, and even pause/stop the movies.

Thanks kainjow. That gives me an idea. I need to fly back to Chicago. There is this black hole period between 6 to 11 P.M. pacific where no flights leave for Chicago (because departures during that time put the landing time in Chicago when the airport there is closed for landing.) I need to leave before that, take the red-eye, or leave Saturday. If most of the stuff will be done by 2 or 3 P.M. then I can try for that last flight before the black hole sets in.
When do they publish the actual schedule as to what happens on each day?

Stonebriar Frisco update, about 60 in line. Apple rep going down line asking if we have any questions and will try to give us answers.
Asked about what and when accessories are available
Ask about how many per person
Asked about qnty of each available
Asked about flow when doors open at 5:00
And if we do not want personal setup is there an express pay lane
Thanks
DP
And also they might give out tickets around 3

What do you guys mean no student discount?
Is that only on launch day or is that a permanent thing now at Regent street? First it's the iPods that don't have any student discount and now the OS? That's a little too harsh don't you think?
Here's why, it's something like 75 on their Apple.com/uk for students, but if you look at the US Student price it's only $65, so..... I'm getting screwed either way!! With or without student discount it's WAY too expensive in the UK.
Ok, so, when I saw the line of people circling the entire building, I was more impressed about that and wanting to know JUST how long the line of people actually was than getting Leopard. See, I can just pick it up from anywhere else if need be or today at apple or tomorrow... I don't need the insane people trying to cut in and giving me attitude when I can simply wait a few days and then get it nice and calmly.
Anyway, I think Apple should have opened up their apparels store again. With so many people buying apple products so enthusiastically, why not open up a section in Apple store for, T-Shirts, watches, badges, stickers, pins you name it. Like they once had. I think it would sell very well, if only they'd do that.
But, what you are saying is that the Regent Street isn't offering any Student Discount on Leopard? At all?
And there were no deaths reported yesterday during the premier!! That's probably the best news huh?
;)
Lyra if you had read the thread you would have seen my comment about the student discount in the store.
I just came back from the store.
Incidentally, they are *not* offering *any* form of student discount on Leopard here. No higher education discount and no standard discount. Full price or family pack price only.
This is not TRUE I just showed them my univeristy ID and I got the discount. Btw when I came to the store it was about 18:15 and although the queue stretched around the block it only took 10 min before I was in the store and got my hands on a copy of leopard.
No tshirt unfortunately, which simply means that by 10pm tonight the Apple Store at Regent street will by my estimation have sold a few thousand copies. Amazing how an operating system can cause such interest, but that's what Apple do well.

No spy chips, thank you.
http://spychips.com
So you believe that by Apple putting an RFID tag reader in the next generation iPhone it will help enable the US government to spy on you?
According to those scary sites you posted, they're already doing this with ease. Basically, if the US government wants to spy on you, it probably can. The only way to stop it would be to move out to the middle of nowhere: http://www.theonion.com/content/video/google_opt_out_feature_lets_users

A little off subject, but does anyone else find it ironic/strangely hilarious that the GOP/tea people painted Obama as someone who was going to "mess with Medicaid/Medicare", and now that they have been voted in the GOP is the one who is going to butcher Medicaid/Medicare...
Where's the outrage? :p
Somehow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=It0Dtm1gFFQ) it sounds familiar to me...

Just a few details. I can verify the subject of the post is genuine and as far I recall it has been pretty well talked about by Intel and planned for some time. It certainly hasn't been kept secret.
I would however be a touch surprised if it is called the PV. It really is very much an evolution of the PIV and nothing new.
The 1MB Level 2 cache is expected it roughly doubles every fabrication generation improvement at the moment. AMD has already planned the same for the Hammer series. The faster FSB is also nothing new or surprising.
The current PIV has ~55 million transistors though and a rough doubling over a fabrication generational change isn't unexpected.
Really there's nothing new there that Intel hasn't had roadmapped since early 2002 and before.
On the Apple side I have said this before and I will say it again. The G4 core has life. Improvements can be made to easily lift its performance substantially and there are things worth note coming :) Whether they will arrive on time is another matter and whether they will satisfy everybody I can't say but given people are rarely pleased I'd say probably not :p
